An angler was fishing in the Animas River when he came across a beat-up-looking digital camera sticking out of shallow water and stuck in the sand.

13 years ago, a woman was tubing with some friends in the Animas River in Colorado. While tubing she is tossed from her tube at Smelter Rapid. When she gets back on her tube, she can’t find her digital camera. It was lost forever, or so she thought.

March 2023 — An Angler Comes Across ‘Something in the Sand’

True story: FOX 31 News reported that angler Spencer Greiner was fishing in the Animas River near Durango, CO when he came across something sticking out of the sand in shallow water. Something that looked like it had seen better days. It turned out to be a digital camera.

He described his discovery to FOX 31 News.

He said:

“I was walking along and saw it sticking out of the sand,” Spencer Greiner said. “It was in rough shape, so I really didn’t have any hopes of getting anything off of it, I was just planning to throw it away, and then curiosity got the best of me, and I had to see what was on it.” -Spencer Greiner (Source: FOX
