Lawsuits Filed Against Facebook
Multiple lawsuits have been filed against Facebook, and anyone that had a Facebook account between May 24, 2007 to December 22, 2022, is eligible to submit a claim online. The claim must be submitted by August 25, 2023, to be eligible to receive monetary compensation from the $725 million settlement.
Keep in mind that most settlements (like this) typically do not amount to a lot of money when it is paid out. The lawyers are paid first, and then the remaining settlement amount is divided among all of those that filed a claim by the deadline and meets the criteria.
Facebook is one of the most popular and well-known social media websites in the world, and many people will qualify to receive monetary compensation.
KY3 News reported that “Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has denied any liability or wrongdoing, according to the claim website.”
Nonetheless, Meta (i.e. Facebook) is still required to pay a settlement to anyone that had a Facebook account between May 24, 2007 to December 22, 2022, even if they maintain they have done nothing wrong.
