WhatsApp Scams are Increasing

WhatsApp Scams are on the rise. According to an analysis by Lloyds Bank, WhatsApp scams have increased by more than 2,000% in the last 12 months.

In the most common WhatsApp scams, con artists want to get your money in the easiest way possible. Sometimes all it takes for the scammer is to have some time and patience to gain your trust.

To do this, they try to befriend you and eventually will start a scheme to con you into making an investment in their business, or they charge you for services that are already free.

The alternative: They trick you into installing malware onto your phone or computer to gain personal information about you, so they can steal your money with your credentials. There is no such thing as WhatsApp Gold.

Always be skeptical when strangers contact you on your smartphone. WhatsApp scams are increasing because they are stealing a lot of money from unsuspecting people.

WhatsApp Wrong Number Scam

WhatsApp Wrong Number Scam: This is What Happens

In the past month, I have received the ‘Wrong Number Scam’ from three different numbers. They all appear to use the same type of script. They greet you pretending to be reaching out to another man, and if you respond in a kind manner, they pretend they just want to be a friend.

At some point, they introduce their fake business and claim that the only reason they have your number is that their secretary entered the wrong number by accident. Oops! But while we are here, let’s be friends, and if you invest in their fake company, you will never hear from them again.

The scammer asks for your name, where you live, and if you like to make investments. Eventually, they ask you if you want to invest in their makeup or cosmetic business.

Do you like to invest your money? (The scammer will ask you)
